I agree with the previous poster about having never heard a bad thing about
Charles River - we looked there when we bought Lokki, our '96 900 S used.
The only reason we didn't buy there or at Framingham (now their sister
store) is that they didn't have the right car. I'm curious as to how long
ago Cigan had his negative experience with Framingham, they only got bought
a couple of years ago and I hear that the previous franchisee (Gaston
Andrey) was really bad.
We actually bought Lokki from Saab Nashua in NH. Nice car, and they stood
behind it when I discovered it had previously been in an accident (I found
hidden damage when changing a bulb). They fixed everything quite nicely,
but their service seems to lack attention to detail. On the service trip
for the accident problem, they blew their estimate by a couple of days
(fortunately I had a loaner), returned the car with no gas in it, and left
bondo or something similar on the leather steering wheel. On a subsequent
warranty visit for a bad wiper motor, I drove all the way to Nashua only to
be told that they didn't have the part in stock, even though I had told them
about the bad wiper motor 2 weeks in advance.
So, when the Check Engine light came on recently, we took it to Chambers
Motorcars in Somerville (off McGrath Highway, they also have a sister store
on Commenwealth Ave closer to Quincy). We had a stellar service experience
and will return there again for service and for the next Saab purchase. The
sale folks are good there as well, we looked there when we bought Lokki and
only passed because they didn't have the right car (the trouble with buying
used).
Given your location, I'd check out Chambers. And you're right about Saab
being the best in the weather, I've lived here all my life and never driven
anything better (even my bro's 4WD)
