Problem was in driver rear taillight area. I found a black wire (earth or ground) going into the connector on the panel holding all the bulbs. On bulb side of panel, looking at connector, I could see the connector w/ black wire going to it burned/corroded. I cut the black wire right where it goes into the bulb panel and stripped back the insulation about 1/2". In the bulb panel, you will find a number of "traces" or metal conductors. You'll have to find the one that the black wire should be connected to by way of the connector. Find a wide area of this "trace" or metal conductor and drill two holes through it, about 1/4" from each other (just large enough to run a new wire through) -- Next you'll need a length of new wire. Make certain the wire is about the same size (diameter) as the black wire going to connector, or a bit larger. Next, strip about 1/2" of both ends of a new bit of wire (6 or 8 inches should be long enough). Using a screw w/ lock washer (or if available a rivet works great) attach the stripped part of one end of the wire to the trace - Make certain you have good metal to metal contact (wire to "trace"). Run the other end of the wire back through the other hole you drilled earlier. Next, solder the other end of the new bit of wire (or usa a wire nut if a soldering iron is not available) to connect the new wire to the old one. Make sure to tape the connection with electrical tape. That's it, your problem should be solved. >On Thu, 07 Jan 1999 22:06:13 -0800, Joel Spencer <joelnopsamleMunk.com> >wrote: > >>'85 sedan. left blinkers work fine. when stepping on brake, both front >>and rear left blinkers fail, and ALL lights in the left rear cluster >>come on bright. >> >>thot it was a shot braking bulb, but replaced and still the same >>problem. fuses all look fine. is there a relay somewhere?? >> >>thx in advance for any help. >try the earth links on rear cluster and or front cluster
