About two years ago there was an article in a paper in the UK about Saab and Volvo jointly developing a new lamp which used Ultraviolet light. The idea was that you could illuminate objects such as the white lines and peoples clothes (like in a Disco) with the ultraviolet but still use dipped headlamps so that people can see you coming and you can see non UV reflective objects. The idea sounded brilliantly simple (although you do need to change the paint used in the white lines) but seems to have got stuck because individual countries wouldn't accept it. Shame really as it sounds like it would work. I'll dig out the cutting and find the exact date if you like. Regards, Mark .
