Subject: Re: Oil Additives?

I personally use Castrol GTX 10W30 or 10W40 in my engine and 5 spd. I tried Castrol Syntec in my 83 900T back 1994. I did not like it and it did cause a couple of leaks that disappeared after I went back to regular oil. If you have any oil leaks, synthetic oil may increase the flow because of its increased flow and lubricity. I have been using Militec-1 with my Saabs and wife's 1990 Chevy Blazer since Jan 94. I prefer to use the the regular oil and change at normal intervals. Some people would rather use synthetics and extend the intervals. My 83 900T had over 251,000 original miles on the 5 spd with no problems using Castrol GTX only for the first 195,000 miles and Castrol GTX with 4 oz. Militec-1 until the car had to be salvaged. The key was I changed the oil in the 5 spd every 20,000 to 25,000 miles. Why mess with success? Ken Washington 87 9000S 87 900S 83 900T
