Subject: Re: need advice: noise in the driveline

Do you just hear the noise around town driving, i.e. in all gears it's just as loud, or is it when the car itself is at speed? If you only hear the noise at highway speed, try this, As your cruising down the highway, and you notice the noise, push in the clutch, shift to neutral, re-engage clutch and allow the car to coast. If and when you're coasting, and the noise doesn't diminish at all, try and hear where the noise is coming from. If its louder on one side than the other, its probably a wheel bearing {most likely}, also notice if sound changes at all in turns at speed. Otherwise, the problem is could be tran$mi$$ion, eek. Hope this helps somewhat, -SAABhuman.
