My 93 Saab 9000 CS overheats intermittently and goes through a serious 'water drinking' phase every so often. The A/C is also acting up, blowing either hot or cold air but not the temperature set on the display. It also smells musty and tends to make rather rude noises...... I have checked the oil (no contamination) but the windows tend to steam up if the car is left. Although it does need a service, it is running a bit lumpy and is difficult to start if left for a few days. Once started, it is fine. Can't find any leaks and the fan/thermostat seem to be running/opening OK. I will be taking it in for a service soon, but what is the prognosis ? Head gasket, heater matrix oir both ? (BTW, I have never run the car on the red although the guage does temd to flucuate wildly) Comments, brickbats appreciated !!! Thanks in advance......
