There is an adjustment to the shift control which involves: removing the console; putting transmission in 3rd; using a special tool inserted in the back of the differential cover; loosening the shift rod clamp bolt; locking the gearshift lever in 3rd by placing a 6mm pilot tool in a hole; re-tighten the shift rod clamp. Reassemble. 432-5 in Bentley Saab 900 Official Service Manual. This adjustment smoothed out my shifter action (didn't do it myself) BTW, a manual (the Bentley is very good) is a must if you are going to do your own work and very useful even if you don't because you can keep tabs on what the techs are telling you. The Bentley is available at the Saab dealer - part number P/N 02 16 861 or order through any good book store - ISBN 0-8376-0313-7 922nopsamejanews.com <1922nopsamejanews.com> wrote in message <78cqg5$4im$1nopsam1.dejanews.com>... >The standard transmission on my '88 Saab 900 (106,000 km)has been notchy for a >long time.
