Subject: Re: how to love my Saab

This is an interesting thread. It just goes to show that there is still a wide variation in opinions regarding oil, eg Synthetic versus non-synthetic. I live in Missouri, USA where the summers are hot and the winters can be cold, but 65 deg F is also not unheard of on occasion. I have been struggling with the synthetic question myself. The SAAB shop mechanics say absolutely no to synthetics, but I feel that there is some added protection to be had by using them. I must say, though, that my 85 900 Turbo with 146K miles has developed an oil leak since I began using synthetics (Castrol Syntec). Coincidence? I don't know, but I think I am going to get the seals and gaskets checked and go back to 10W-30 Castrol GTX. IMHO, if you change every 3K-5K miles, I don't believe that the perceived added protection of synthetics will be realized. Anybody else care to comment, because I could very well be wrong? <nutmeggernopsamejanews.com> wrote in message news:794f11$vd8$1nopsam1.dejanews.com... >In article <78n3g4$rqd$1nopsam1.dejanews.com>, > supersambanopsamejanews.com wrote: >> >> Whats all this stuff about Mobil 1 all the time!
