It was reported a few nights ago on the BBC program Watchdog. AFAIK BMW are not fixing this problem by tuning the ECU. They are replacing the whole motor! BTW the 3.0 V6 has a very good reputation in Europe. The latest Opel Vectra has this engine with 193BHP and a lot of torque as well. Maybe for die hard SAABers it is rubbish but for people that live in the real world it is a superb motor. Generally in Europe I think the impression is that possibly the best bit of Opels is the Engine. They are usually very strong and last a long time. The 2.0 ltr 16 valve motor (pre ecotec) is a legend amongst engine tuners.
