The Passat 1.8T has simialr performance I don't believe you can option a Passat GLS (the only model available now) over $25k, and even the GLX Synchro (listed but not sold here for 99) was around the $28k you mention (and that IS with awd, memory seats, wood trim, Tiptronic, automatic climate control, etc.). : to the 2.8, but costs a lot less. In regard to the S70, R&T just ranked it : last in a comparison of 3-series, A4, 9-3, etc... Meanwhile, C&D ranks it #3 : in a test of seven cars. Behind the Lexus GS and Audi A6, and ahead of the Saab 9-5, Catera, Mercedes C280, Millenia S. : S70 is a good car, but drive it back to back with : the 9-5 or 300M and it feels old. Perhaps, but its acceleration is just about unequalled in its class.
