I am about to send my 1980 900 Turbo to pasture (manufactured in 1979). It was meticulously cared for, and lasted for 20 years. 1. Definitely check the service records, and gauge what kind of a driver your friend is. If he is the type that doesn't beat on the car and takes good care of it, then that's a good sign. 2. Go to the Kelly Blue Book Page (www.kbb.com) to examine the value for the car. You will probably find that it retails for much more than you are paying for it. So, you are either getting a really good deal, or something may be wrong with it, thus bringing the value down. Think about that since you are buying from a friend. 3. Find out about the mileage. While that is alot of miles, they are probably highway miles. Of course, highway miles are less wearing on a car than city. If you are comfortable with buying from a friend, then go for it. You are probably getting a good deal. If you are like the rest of us fanatics (I'm on my third SAAB 900), you'll love your car. Enjoy!
