I don't know if things are wildly different in the US (presume as you are only 16 an INDECENT age to be allowed behind the wheel of a car!!!!) but in the UK insurance costs would be punitive. I am 30 get a 60% reduction as I've been good for the last 7 years and my insurance is still $800+. This is way higher than say a Beamer 320. However if you want a car that is fun to drive then get one anyway and be extra nice to your parents! Good luck.
