I have a 1999 9-3 SE Automatic. I don't understand why the automatic (a japanese part!) car is derated to 170 lb/ft of torque, rather than the 194 lb/ft of the 5 speed. Anyone know why this is, and what magic bit gets set to change it back? It's a bit of a slug out of the chute. Also, why is the automatic not available with the 200hp motor? I assume that engine is the same with different tuning, right? Anyone lse have an automatic, notice that the shift logic is kind of stupid? why on earth the tranny would upshift into third midway up a steep hill, then downshift (sometimes two gears) a few seconds later is a mystery to me. Also, the lock-up torque convertor should be over-rideable... Otherwise, another nice Saab. pg
