Hi! Last night, a good friend of mine and I spent the evening doing some basic maintenance on my 1984 900 Turbo (161k miles) that I figured it needed. There were two things we didn't get done: 1) Changing power steering fluid 2) Changing manual transmission oil I searched through some previous responses to questions I've posted, and found a good description of how to change the PS fluid. I still don't really know how to change the manual transmission oil, though, and my Bentley manual and Saab factory manuals don't describe the procedure. Thus, I have two questions: 1) How should I go about changing the manual transmission oil? We looked briefly under the car and couldn't figure out which was the drain plug. Do we just drain and refill like you do engine oil, or is it more complex? I've got RedLine MTL ready to pop in there. 2) My power steering fluid is a sickly gray color, which Justin V once described as the color of fluid from a steering rack going bad. I'd like to keep it alive as long as possible... should I replace with good-old GM PS fluid, or is there some synthetic kind I could try? Thanks in advance for the help! J.
