DC... Take the covcer off the motor and check the gear teeth for wear, you will probably find the teeth starting to wear, failing when more af a load is put on it (closing). Also check make sure the slides and paths are lubricated first. You can pick up a motor at a salvage yard for $75 to $100 dollars (that is what I paid from Swedish/British in Atlanta 3 years ago.
