Has anyone caught the latest issue of C/D with their shootout featuring the A-4, 323, Contour SVT, Jetta, Infiniti G20, and the 9-3? I read the article and wondered if they were driving the same car as I do? Although I have only driven the A-4 and 323, I can't belive the low score they gave the 9-3. The 9-3 destroys all of the competition when it comes to acceleration and speed. As for the handling, why did they get a car with stock 15" wheels and not the 16" 205/50 Michelin Pilots? After complaining about its lsuggish handling they then go on to say how great this car is in the twisties. Have these "journalists" ever tired to travel with bikes, luggage, dog, and wife? With the proactive rack mount, the huge cargo bay, and neck snapping get-up-and-go the 9-3 deserved a much higher score. Yes, the transmission is clunky but their complaints about the braking are totally unfounded. Either these guys like the stopping power of a concrete barrier or they are a bunch of pussies afraid to use a little muscle. Maybe they should drive my old (1997) Blazer - only then would they know what soft is. These guys must own stock in the German brands. Thank you for letting me vent. Gregor 1999 9-3
