Here's the thing: Back in the '80s synthetic oil was either non-existent or too expensive to consider for use in a passenger car. I'm sure Amsoil was around, but who had heard of it? Back then, the additive package that would have been necessary to create a dinosaur oil based 10w-50 would have been ridiculous - multigrade oils have never been particularly reliable. With that in mind, many dealers recommended 'settling' for a 20w (THICK) oil as a side effect of getting the heat range of a -50 oil... These days, the best way to get a xw-50 oil is going to be synthetic. *Everyone* makes a 15w-50 and many a 5w-50 full synthetic oil, and that's the best way to get it. I personally use Mobil 1 5w-30 in all my Saab turbos and it has never created a problem, even in, um, abusive situations... :) I'd have no problem recommending it - but do be aware the fact that it's so thin may expose imperfections in your lubrication system, causing leaks or timing chain rattle... -Justin --------------575C3DE0224A Content-Type: text/plain; charset=us-ascii; name="saablist.txt" Content-Transfer-Encoding: 7bit Content-Disposition: inline; filename="saablist.txt" '84 900T (125k - sold) '88 SPG (80k - wrecked) '90 900T (105k - wrecked) '86 9000T (125k - sold) '88 900T (134k - sold) '90 SPG (55k - ) '85 900T (190k - RIP) '88 SPG (77k - wrecked) '88 9000T (225k - ) '88 9000T (189k - sold) '87 9000T (215k - RIP) '80 900T (187k - RIP) '87 SPG (160k - ) '88 900T (133k - ) '80 900T (129k - ) --------------575C3DE0224A--
