Subject: Re: Saab 9-3 or a BMW 328i

Hmm, a cross-posting of "BMW 328 or Audi A4 2.8" brought largely informed opinion. I'll leave those on both lists to judge the quality of the responses here. Some people just don't know when they're making their case worse. Maybe some SAAB owners think they have something to prove, but I just look at the cars, not the clientele. 900 (aka 9 superscript 3 - hell why not go with the symbol for the artists formerly known as Prince ;-)) is a fine car. It's a much different car than the BMW. Better is just too subjective a word to use to compare two such different cars. If you feel like buying one or the other, go for it, but I think comparisons are lame (not as lame as the response below, but)... I'm neither a past or present owner of either, as I have a new Miata, and 4 years ago chose a VR6 Passat over the 900. Price/performance and a rather dark cavernlike interior in the Saab, plus better handling in the Passat GLX versus a base 900 made that decision. Now I'm contemplating trading the Passat in for the 323i Sport package, taking handling and performance above value and cargo hauling capability. Guess the Miata spoiled me for driving lesser sedans.
