Debra... One of the settings, the one with the up arrow and at the bottom of the arrow has a rectangle, let's you get outside ambient air no matter what your temperature is set at. This is a great design, in the winter you can have the car warm and if you need a blast of cool air to wake you up and not freeze the passengers, just select it and turn it toward you.
