If you're a pretty passive driver, get a 900S - it's non-turbo'd, but peppier than the base model. But if you actually *enjoy* driving, then by all means, get a turbo - and an SPG if you can find one. And don't worry about the reliability of turbos-- I've put over 220k miles on each of my last 3 turbo Saabs (both 900's and 9000's). Just use a good quality oil (synthetics are worth the cost in the long run), change it regularly, and ALWAYS let the turbo spin down before shutting off the motor. You should be able to find a 92-93 in your price range- though you might have to shop out of the area, if Saabs are as uncommon as you indicate, there. I'd suggest buying from a private party, and make sure they've got complete service records - especially with a turbo - otherwise you might be dishing out $1500 soon to replace the turbo they didn't take care of. If you can find an SPG, odds are it's owned by a real Saab enthusiast and has been well maintained (although that's balanced against the fact that it was probably "vigorously" driven, as well).
