There were basically 3 models - 900 (which had cloth seats - pretty stripped down), 900S (which had leather seats, electric windows and locks, etc), and the 900Turbo which was basically a 900S with the turbo added. Generally, the 1992 and 1993 model years are great. I have a 1992 900S sedan that I got in January which has been babied. There are a few rattles here and there but the car runs great, it's really quick on the road and drive like a dream. The key to Saabs is regular maintenance. I had a volvo wagon which I could just kind of ignore - skip a scheduled maintenance here and there and the car still ran (I had almost 200K miles on that before somebody hit me and totaled it). Saabs are a little more finicky - if you ignore them or don't treat them well, they could turn around and behave poorly for you. You should be able to get a 1992-1993 900S for around $6-7K depending on mileage and condition. I paid $6K for mine with 112,000 miles on it. Check Kelly pricing or Edmunds online to get a rough idea of book values. Some saab owners tend have an overinflated sense of the value of their car - they get too attached to it and think that they can ask $9-10K for a car that's 6-7 years old with 100K miles on and has a blue book of $7-8. Hope this helps... Scott nomad wrote: > > First now that I can do newsgroups I want to say how > beautiful I think the old 900's were.
