Bad news - there's no choice. The slave is "sandwiched" in between the
tranny and the engine, and the only way to access it is to remove the
transmission.
If the car has high mileage, best bet is to do a complete clutch job while
everything is accessible. And, be sure to check/replace the oil seals on the
engine crankshaft, and transmission input shaft.
Expensive, but it'll be more expensive if you have to pull the tranny
*again* in a few thousand miles when the clutch wears out!
