This is a rather common problem in a lot of CD-players (also cdr:s and homestereos). Open the cd-unit and locate the laserlens. Use siliconspray (CAREFULLY) on the mechanism that moves the lens. Here is a link that describes how to do it on a Hewlett Packard CD-writer.
