Subject: Oil in distributor= rough running?

The alternator bearings/ seals on my 1992 900S (3dr, 16V, 58,000 miles) are shot. I'm having it replaced tomorrow. I was wondering if the excess oil in the distributor could be contributing to the percieved rougher running of the car. Is it all in my head, or could the timing be effected by the oil in the distributor? Matt Summers Alexandria, VA 1992 900S The dealer initially told me that I had a leaky headgasket ($900). I took it to an independent local shop and they told me that it wasn't the headgasket ($650), but the distributor bearings/ shaft seals ($365). I also think the dealer may have a brake quota to fill, as the shop told me that my rear brakes were fine, and not in need of immediate replacement ($175, rear pads only). --
