I had a problem like that with my Subaru. It turned out to be the distributor cap was cracked and moisture was getting in there (even if it wasn't rain splashing up into the engine it was just the sheer humidity). I don't know if this applies to Saabs (if they have distributors or not - I'm not a mechanic) but I maybe this helps.
