I just went throught this having purchased a new '99 9-3. I recommend you talk with Dan Saaroony of Accelerated Response Motoring. They sell aftermarket upgrades for Saab, including the 9-3 and 9-5. Most of the products are from an English company, Abbott Racing. Their website is: http://www.acceleratedresponse.com I felt he was knowledgeable and he was very helpful. (In fact I owe him a reply to an email he sent me earlier. It was to follow up on the suspension I ordered for my car.) So far, I'm amazed how it transformed the Saab. The ride is firm but not harsh. (Oh yes, I should clarify that I replaced the springs as well as the shocks and struts.) I hope this helps out.
