Subject: Oxygen Sensor Problem? '88 900

Is my O2 sensor bad? Although its voltage is in range for an '88 900 (between 0.4 and 1.0 volts), it badly effects the way the car idles at start up and sometimes after warmup. The Lambda pulse ratio fluctuates like crazy in the high readings with the O2 sensor plugged in, but as soon as I disconnect the O2, the Lambda reading stalbilizes at 44.3 degrees on the dwell meter and the car idles fine. Any ideas. The car has about 130K miles and as far as I know the original O2 sensor.
