I've had 4 Saab 900's dating back to 1985 and currently have a 93 900S
convertible; I've never experienced any uneven tire wear.  What you describe
sounds like an alignment problem (toe-in).  I've found the best mileage and
ride with Michelins.  I get my cars aligned every couple of years unless I
hit a curb or something, and keep the correct tire pressure.
