Potential trouble spots to be wary of in a '91 9000 turbo: -- balance shafts; the gears on these often wear out around 120-130k miles, a $1500 repair bill. -- tranny problems; Saab fudged the horsepower on these cars to meet federal DOT regs, and the engine, while rated at 200 hp, actually puts out more like 225. One result is that the tranny doesn't stand up to it as well as it might, often needing a rebuild at about 140k miles. Plan to spend about $1,800 for this repair. -- DI cassettes eventually burn out, especially if the plugs run at all hot. This is a cheaper fix, about $450 at your local shop. If you can find one with 70k miles you'll be doing well, and if it's selling for $7k, snap it up *fast* -- low miles and a low price on a '91 9000 turbo 5-speed will be rare indeed. Check the Edmond's Car-Buyer's Guide, <http://www.Edmunds.com/>. Good luck. B.
