Subject: Please define quirky for me

Hi, I'm considering purchasing my first Saab 9-3. I did a test drive and thought it was really great. My only consideration at this point is that it is a reliable car. I don't want to break down nor be taking many trips to the dealer for all sorts of minor or major things. I've heard the Saab's referred to as quirky in many writeups and don't really know what that means. My dealer defined it as, well the taillights might blow more frequently than on my present car but I'm not sure I believe that what that is referring to. Another question I have is that I see really good writeups for the 9-5 and not the 9-3 and wonder if it's basically the same car mechanically or not other than the engine. Thanks for your comments
