The 3 door Saab 99 was even better! Many years ago I had a new 3door 99 and my wife's parents visited us in their new Volvo 6 cyl - forget the designation. There were six of us to do a tour around town, so wife's parents said let's take the Volvo. Well, we couldn't fit in at all well, so I said "let's try the Saab". They all laughed at me, but gave it a try: Surprise surprise! We fitted in with 2 in the front and 4 in the back with absolutely no problem and without overlapping shoulders. The 3door 99 had sculptured recesses in each side which allowed a huge amount of shoulder room - they was better in that respect than all my later 900's and my 9-5 Saabs, although I never had a 3 door 900, so it may have been just as good as the 99.
