Subject: 900, 9-3 Child Safety Notice

Because of a change of schedule, I have had to engage in heavy rush hour freeway trips with my three year old boy in a child safety seat in the center of the back seat of my 97 900. I was getting very concerned by the fact that this normally very healthy toddler threw up at the end of four out of six such trips. I have found the cause. The A/C outlet is positioned in such a way as to blow directly at the face of anyone in the center of the rear seat. The Saab Auto climate control default is to switch from recirculated air to "fresh" air as soon as the temperature stabilizes. On the Los Angeles freeways, this means that my son was breathing exhaust gases for 30 minutes to an hour on each trip. I now make sure to override Auto climate control by pushing the recirculating air button. All problems have disappeared. (My son has noticed the difference. He wanted to know why he doesn't feel sick any more on our trips.) Perhaps this issue obvious. It wasn't to me. I'm very glad to have discovered the cause of the problem and I thought I would pass this tip on to others who might find it useful. Burt
