I had an 88 900T 5-spd from new, just traded it in for 99 9-3 SE HOT 5-spd, it was (and probably still is) a great car. The car had 130,000 miles and I traded it in and got $4800 for it !!!! It looked and ran like it just came off the showroom floor. The only trouble I had with the car were the "typical" troubles of the model....the A/C never worked like an American car, not cold enough to make ice but sufficient. The automatic seat belt motors got goofy and I bypassed them and made the system a manual one (I like it that way anyway) at 122,000 miles I replaced the throwout bearing. That's really it with the exception of wear items and religiously changing the oil at 2500-3000 mile intervals and a replacement windshield at 90,000 miles. There is no reason to be afraid of SAABs, just have any car you look at checked by a _competent_ mechanic, preferrably a SAAB shop. And then enjoy the heck out if it!
