Recent articles I've read noted some significant problems on the S80. I can't recall where or what...Big help, eh? But I do recall some remarks about Volvo not working out the new model/technology details as well as it should. On the other hand, I have read nothing but glowing raves on the 9-5. I even drove it myself a few weeks ago...albeit for a total of a half hour. Not conclusive...but I was REALLY impressed. If I were in the market right now, the SAAB would get the nod. However, I will say that the S80 is more impressive stylistically -- a big improvement over the yuppified boxed geezer look of the other models in the Volvo stable. The Saab 9-5 sedan is rather plain cosmetically IMHO -- but the new wagon has nice lines. I would be VERY cautious before jumping to the S80 at this juncture. Check out the reports...perhaps Volvo has nailed the problems by now. When and if they do, it looks like the S80 would be a contender in its niche.
