The 'hissing' noise is the expansion valve (TXV) opening and closing, the function of the valve is to give the desired amount of refrigerant to the system (I would guess that this is a concern on cars used in temperatures ranging from say 15°C to 25°C, when warmer the AC is running full open?!) The noise is 'in' every valve but of course due to tolerances in the spring dampening the valve the noise is more or less frequent (and also depends on the ambient temperature). Replacing the valve might help but it is not a guarantee. I know that the diesel engine have a stiffer spring might be worth asking for a replacement?
