My wife has a 96 900 V6 with a set of Falken 205/50 16" tires on it. They have about 26K miles on them and since the last rotation they have begun to REALLY howl and sing. I've tried different air pressures, etc. but they continue to make quite a bit of noise. They are wearing more on the inner side. While they are not completely worn to the wear bars, they are probably due for replacement in the next few months. The 110 degree weather in AZ takes its toll on tires and batteries. So my question is, can I substitute a 205/55 16 tire in place of the 205/50? The slightly taller 55 seems more plentiful at nearby tire stores as opposed to the 50 series. Will it effect the accuracy of the speedometer? Any other problems? Or should I just pay more and special order the same size.
