Subject: Brake booster on 84 900 T

Hello, I have a brake problem I was wondering if I can get any info on. Here are the symptoms, When I first apply the brake pedal, the pedal feels correct and gives about an inch of motion. As soon as I touch the brake pedal there is a slight rushing noise like a leaky vacuum hose. Very soon after I apply the brakes the pedal becomes much firmer and pushes back against my foot, at this point there is no vacuum assist. I've pulled the dash apart and have found that the rubber bellows around the push rod the brake pedal is attached is where the vacuum noise is coming from. The hose to the servo unit look good, and the unit seems to be holding vacuum as long as I don't press on the brake pedal. I am fairly convinced that the problem is a failed booster / servo unit, I was just hoping to get confirmation before I purchase a replacement unit. Thanks, - Pete
