I have made my own tools in a pinch. Take a clothes hanger, cut the straight part out, bend it to form a U-shaped loop (so that the parallel parts of the U are the distance between the holes in the radio), then trim the ends to the same length. Use a metal file to form a catch on the outside of the U (ie, the top side with it laying flat on a table) near the tip of each wire (perpendicular to the wire near the tip, sloping down from the U end). If you've ever seen the tool, you'll recognize the shape described. Make two, and use as you would the real tool.
