Subject: Re: 9000 ADVICE NEEDED

The engine and/or the turbo could be in tough shape if he was constantly revving the hell out of it trying to get it up to highway speed all that time. Check it out. But I recently bought an old 9000 Turbo for $800, knowing it needed some work -- new windshield, headlight, some electrical and major brake work all totaling about $1400. But now for $2200 invested it's a pretty cool car! Have a Saab mechanic check it out if you can find one. My guess is if you buy it & dump a bunch of money into it for the overdue repairs it will be good for a while. I'd budget around $500 a year for repairs after that. The battery problem could be the alternator too. Don't know what they cost, but I'd bet it's more than you're used to paying for an alternator, $100-$200??? Anyone?
