My '91 9000S runs a bit hot as well, up to 3/4 on the temp gauge. My mechanic (a Saab specialist here in Ann Arbor) told me that this was normal and not to worry unless I had a problem, which I haven't. This happens more often in city driving though, especially sitting at lights.
