Subject: 85 900T - Clutch and Trans issues - Help?

Two things I would like comments on. 1985 900 T (US) 143K Clutch - The pedal sits low. the clutch does not move or drift once it is in place. I can hold down the pedal for extended periods of time and the position is stable. I have a clutch kit that includes the new slave cylinder. The common clutch pedal re-weld has been preformed and there is not exessive play in the pedal. The clutch is no where near ready to be replaced and the car drives fine once you get used to the pedal height. Trans - I bought the car with 27K on it and it has always clunked into 2nd gear. If I pause slightly out of first, I don't even notice it. It has not gotten any worse in the 116K I have driven it. My question. I am have had my SAAB on the market for several months. These two items were not on my problems list until prospects started driving the car. I believe these two items are the main reasons people back away from the car. I tell them the trans is probably a worn syncro and with a minimum of practice they will never notice it. The repair cost of a transmission would never be justified and it is not a deteriorating condition. I also tell them when the clutch is wore the master cylinder should probably be replaced along with the clutch kit and this should bring the clutch system back to normal. Since I have included the clutch kit the cost should be resonable. Am I giving them the straight scoop? Are there other hidden issues indicated by these symptoms I should know about? Any insight would be helpful. aTdHvAaNnKcSe, Dan Glenn dglenn1nopsamrr.com
