Subject: Re: 94 Saab 900s Clutch Problems

I have a '95 900S Turbo and after owning it for a mere month the automatic slack adjustment mechanism of the clutch cable assembly decided to let go in a busy intersection. Anyway, I was able to get it to "latch" in a different position higher up (i.e.. less pedal travel was required) and take it home. I replaced the cable as I did not want to experience the wrath of the existing cable once more. It cost only $45CAN for a new cable assembly but, I have had minor problems shifting in really hot weather. I think that the new cable is not disengaging or separating the plates fully and in turn makes for nastier shifts. To make a long story short, you should check the cable and make sure you are getting sufficient clutch lever travel at full pedal stroke.
