You mentioned my initial problems (I didn't post all of them), which were eventually fixed, but I have since developed many new ones! New computers and Trionic software were installed last month which fixed juddering and vibration problems and erratic SID readings, and has almost fixed the stalling-on-starting problem. (start the car, shift into gear, car stalls. Repeat up to 6 times). Now it only does it up in the country highlands with below zero morning temperatures: it's OK on the coast. It's winter here, if you were wondering about the low temperatures. I've just returned from a 3000km trip to the outback country and Queensland, and was very satisfied with the performance and handling of the car on narrow winding muddy roads and on corrugated gravel. Only problem experienced (not yet fixed) was that on corrugated roads the overhead console pops out and hangs down until I push it up again. Oh, and it took me about 2 hours to get all the sticky red mud from underneath the car, using a high pressure hose! I guess my car must have been assembled on a Monday morning after a heavy weekend on the Schnapps. Most other people report few or no problems. Guess it is Just My Bad Luck. I was told refusal of the shifter to go into gear even when the brake is pressed was due to a faulty interlock solenoid, not a chip. Also, if it had been mentioned by the salesman or covered in the handbook, you would have been able to press a little rectangular button above the Winter Mode button which disables the interlock. Grrrr! I had to walk miles to a phone as I had forgotten my mobile phone when it happened to me, and did not appreciate being told "Oh, Saab know about that but said not to replace it unless the customer complains. Just press the little button...then bring the car in for a new solenoid to be fitted" I seethed all the way back to the car. NOT good Public relations! BTW, I get a lot of tyre/road noise on some asphalt road surfaces: must check when the tyres wear out to see if there is a quieter tyre than the standard Michelins. Anyone have any advice on this? -- _--_|\ Peter Wilkins Email : wilkinspnopsamnet.au / \ 2/24 Cove Avenue Phone/Fax : +61 2 9977 2395 \_.--._* MANLY, NSW, 2095, Mobile: 0411 525 273 v AUSTRALIA
