Does anyone have any experience with this >type of problem? > Hi Matt, I had a similar experience with my '98 9-5SE: blew two right front low beam headlights in the first two months after buying it. The dealer did a check and found nothing wrong with the regulation and voltage - his suggestions were: 1. The globes had probably been handled before installation: bare fingers on the glass leave traces of oil and hot spots. he said this is the prime cause of early QI bulb failure. 2. Corrugated roads or a large sharp-edged pothole can also blow a bulb, but rarely. I didn't see the first or second bulbs go in, but I made sure with the third globe that the dealer got a new one from an unopened carton and didn't handle it when putting it in. No more blown bulbs in the last 11 months, and I drive with my headlamps (low beam) always on. And you should complain at $17? It's $43.51 each here in Oz! -- Regards, Peter Wilkins (wilkinspnopsamnet.au)
