Subject: Re: Wheel Clear-coat coming off

Michael... The best thing to clean the wheels with is just plain car wash detergent and water, and wash more often. I refinished a set of 8 spoke alloys last year and the problem is that normally you have a 4 to 5 day window to coat wheels after applying the paint. This ensures a good bond with the paint, after that the procedure calls for re-painting and clear coating. You can get spray clear coat from your local car store or the Eastwood Co. and it may last for awhile but it won't be the same. If you use the later method, and depending where you live, keep an eye on the wheel, once the corrosives start pitting the metal it will never look as good unless you have the rim professionally done.
