Recently got a Saab 9-5 wagon 2.3t which the dealer had put on 17" accessory wheels. Looks great but I'm a bit unsure about the cost of the tyres. Which are 215/45 17". At the moment its on Bridgestone Potenza S-02 Pole Positions. From research it looks like the choice is hard to fault on ability - especially if you want wet weather grip for the wife and kids AND the amazing dry grip of a ultra performance tyre. BUT these do seem to cost a great deal.... Are these over specified for the car ? What would be a useful alternative ? I like the idea of retaining good wet weather grip despite the 17" rims - but would I be as well off on something a little cheaper. The car is pretty quick but..... Thanks.
