Subject: Re: AC in 9-3 SE

Hi. I've had similar problems with my Saab 9-5 SE as well as a few others.. >Sure enough SAAB has redesigned the switch so that it >doesn't register the buttons being depressed until after they are >pushed farther below the surface of the faceplate they are mounted in. >They haven't issued any sort of technical service bulletin to inform >the dealers of the problem but are quietly replacing the poorly >designed switch for owners who complain. I complained about this problem to the regional (NYC) Saab rep and was told that they had no idea what I was talking about. Did you get this part replaced? And if you did, could you please give me a part number so that I can wave it in his face and have it fixed? Thanks! >ACC display showed jumbled numbers/characters when interior got >too hot I had missing vertical columns in the display intermittently and this was replaced. It's another "known" problem and this was fixed with no complaint. > 6) ACC operated inconsistently After many attempts at getting the a/c problem fixed and being told that there was nothing wrong, the Saab tech agreed to go for a long (1/2 hour) ride with me. Initially the cold air would come on, but would start blowing warm air after a minute or 2. Temps in the cabin were nowhere near comfortable in 80F+ outdoor weather -- open windows were more effective. Something called "DICE" was replaced and the ACC now works perfectly. Another problem that has popped up is that the driver seat is right up against the center console -- this after the track was replaced because the seat rocked. Every time the seat is re-positioned, there is a loud squealing sound of the leather against plastic. Eventually, the leather will wear and there will be the resulting hole. This was not considered a problem by either Saab tech or rep. I still love driving my car, but these little problems can drive you up the wall on "bad" days! Eve
