I thought I remembered something about holding the clear button for 8 seconds as the way to remove the service message (check the manual). It will also disappear on it's own after a handful of startups. I also thought I noticed at one point that it may have been connected to the hood opening (there is a spring loaded switch beside the fuse box to tell when the hood opens, but that may be part of the anti-theft). Any way - a couple of things to try.
