I would advise you to get the CV boot replaced as soon as possible. If your CV joints go then your car wont be going anywhere. Do you notice any clunking noises or shuddering when you corner sharply? If you do then this could be a sign that your CV joints need replacing as well. The CV joints and boots on my old 87 900 were damaged and I managed to drive it for seven months like that before the car was stolen. I'm glad that I didn't pay $600 to have them fixed... Miss the car though.
