When this old, it often has crack and splits. I replaced mine and my CC works better than it ever has. (When it would fail, it was always this hose that had cracked at the end.) Also, there's a chain that goes from the back of the accelerator pedal that has to be in place. Finally, your speedometer has to be functioning for the CC to work.
